Scholarships
Julie Ellingson Traveling Scholarship
The traveling scholarship is a donation given by Julie Ellingson in 2001 after the National Angus Conference & Tour Planning Committee presented her with a check for $1000 for her work on the National Angus Conference & Tour program book. Julie decided to donate the money back to the association to institute a National Activities Travel Scholarship in which one NDAA member will be eligible to receive a $250 travel scholarship to attend one of three national-scope Angus events; the American Angus Association Annual Meeting, the National Angus Conference & Tour or the World Angus Forum. The application should include (but not be limited to) questions about why the member wants to attend, what specific skills or information the member is interested in learning there and what previous Angus involvement the member has had. In order to be eligible, the applicant must be an NDAA member, 45 years or younger, and must be willing to report on the event attended in the North Dakota Angus News in a written form or at the North Dakota Angus Association Annual Meeting in a verbal form. Applications for the 2008 scholarship are due Nov. 1, 2008, and should be sent to Nathan & Emily Spickler, 8375 7th Pkwy NE, Glenfield, ND 58443. Applicant will be chosen and awarded at the Annual Meeting and Banquet on Nov. 22, 2008, at the Seven Seas in Mandan, ND.
North Dakota Angus Association Award Endowment Fund
Sale proceeds from donated heifers and other contributions by generous Angus breeders enabled the North Dakota Angus Association to establish the North Dakota Angus Association Endowment Fund in June 2004 with a gift of $23,500. Subsequent gifts to the Fund have been made by North Dakota Angus Association and individual Angus breeders. This Fund provides scholarships to Angus youth from North Dakota attending college and/or supports sponsorships for North Dakota youth to attend the national Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) Conference. Recipients are selected by the North Dakota Angus Association Scholarship Selection Committee from the organization's scholarship application. The application deadline for the 2008 scholarship is October 31. Send completed application to Nathan & Emily Spickler, 8375 7th Pkwy NE, Glenfield, ND 58443. Applicant will be chosen and awarded at the Annual Meeting and Banquet on Nov. 22, 2008, at the Seven Seas in Mandan, ND.
